To start the viewer click the "Click to Play" button.

This viewer has two boards. The left is intended for the main line and the right is intended to display variations. There is an alternate move for the first move of 1. c7. 1. Kb7 is the alternate and notice how it is displayed as a tab on the board on the right. Click the 1. Kb7 tab and that board will move to that position. Now, on the right board the arrows below the board navigate only within that sub variation.

If you now click forward twice on the left board we get to a position where there are multiple alternatives that show up as tabs on the right board. Try clicking different tabs on the right board and scrolling through the moves. Notice how the moves and text selected changes to match the selected tab. Also notice that as you move among sub variations either by clicking a tab or by clicking the text, the moves in the variations that you have previously visited remain bold to help you remember which variations you have previously examined.

The two boards with tabbed variations makes it easy to follow the main lines and easily navigate all of the alternative variations.
